First Place In Ireland
In June 2005, I was awarded first place in Ireland and recieved one of only 3 awards given each year in Ireland and the U.K. from "The Worshipful Company Of Turners". I received this prize in recognition of outstanding performance within the field of wood turning for my City and Guilds Level 2 wood turning project. (See rocking chair below). The awards ceremony took place in London in the 5 star Lancaster Hotel, hosted by the Chairman of City and Guilds, Mr. David Young FCA HonFCGI, and the VIP guest speaker was Alan Titchmarsh MBE FCGI, the gardener, broadcaster and novelist.
